UIC is among the nation’s preeminent urban public research universities, a Carnegie RU/VH research institution, and the largest university in Chicago. UIC serves over 34,000 students, comprising one of the most diverse student bodies in the nation and is designated as a Minority Serving Institution (MSI), an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPSI) and a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). Through its 16 colleges, UIC produces nationally and internationally recognized multidisciplinary academic programs in concert with civic, corporate and community partners worldwide, including a full complement of health sciences colleges. The Department of Pediatric Dentistry provides pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training in comprehensive oral health care for pediatric patients. The Department operates a general pediatric clinic, a specialty pediatric clinic, and an outpatient care clinic in conjunction with the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System. Faculty provides leadership in the field by conducting research and other scholarly activity. The mission of our unique pediatric dental clinics reflects our belief that children deserve the best of oral health care. We offer a full spectrum of services for all children at every stage of their lives from infancy through adolescence including those with special and complex oral health needs, and patients with special developmental and behavioral care needs.
