The Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time position in the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences and Research for the position of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Residency Program Director position. The department has a strong commitment to continuing dental education and collaboration with the School of Dentistry clinics and departments.
We are seeking a board-certified, or board-eligible, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist who is an outstanding clinician, educator, scientist, and communicator to join our predoctoral dental faculty. The ideal candidate for this position has prior experience in educating predoctoral dental students didactically and clinically. The applicant should also have experience in working with patients of all ages, be proficient in performing Oral Maxillofacial Surgery diagnosis and treatment plans, be skilled in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery procedures, and be committed to the highest quality of patient care. Responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, management and oversight of the departmental curriculum, engagement in independent research, provision of faculty mentoring and staff management, evaluation of outcomes assessment, assisting in the recruitment of qualified faculty, and service to the college. Working in collaboration with other faculty in research and teaching is encouraged.
Qualifications include a DDS/DMD degree from an American or Canadian Dental School and a specialty Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from a CODA-approved postgraduate program. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and collegiality required. A record of scholarly achievement and experience teaching and mentoring students is preferred. Rank and salary will be determined by applicant’s qualifications and experience. Applicants must be licensed to practice dentistry in the state of Tennessee or be able to meet the requirements for permanent/teaching licensure in Tennessee.
