Associate Non-tenured Clinical Track or Tenured Track Associate Professor or Professor

Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology, Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, PA.

To build upon the tradition of excellence and to advance our mission in education, patient care and research, the Kornberg School of Dentistry is seeking highly qualified and successful applicants for a full-time tenured or non-tenured track faculty position in the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.  This position may be in the tenure or clinical track. Tenured appointments require ability to conduct funded research and a track record of research achievements and publications to ensure that the faculty will succeed in this track.

Applicants must have a clinical periodontology certificate from an ADA-CODA accredited specialty program, full or teaching dental license, or eligibility for a license, to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and be board certified with the American Board of Periodontology. An extensive teaching record is required with experience in teaching at the pre doc and post doc levels with clinical expertise. Applicants with experience in accreditation will be preferred.

The applicants must also demonstrate his or her experience in working with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff, and in developing strong teams.  It is required that the applicants have positive engagements with an academic colleagues and have demonstrated unselfish leadership skills.   

Responsibilities will include primarily clinical and didactic teaching in the post-graduate program or pre-doctoral program in the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology.  Supervision of Master level theses will also be required.  The candidate must also be competent to practice as a specialist in the Faculty Dental Practice and provide direct patient care on a daily basis as part of teaching.  Temple’s Dental model of education is based on an apprenticeship model where faculty are engaged as clinicians and educators, in provision of care with the students or residents.

For tenure-track appointment, the faculty will be granted time to continue his or her research plans at Temple.  Generous start-up funding is available.
