We are searching for a Dental Assistant to join our client’s rural healthcare team! This is a full-time, direct hire position in Oakridge, OR.
Our client is looking for someone who takes an out of the box approach to integrated healthcare, all while maintaining a calm, professional, and respectful demeanor, even in a potentially stressful environment. Must have a passion for healthcare specifically serving rural communities.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Preparing treatment rooms for patients
- Providing instrumentation, including sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area, positioning instruments for dental hygienist’s access, suctioning, and passing instruments
- Selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient’s mouth
- Providing diagnostic information, including exposing and developing radiographic studies and pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts
- Maintaining patient appearance and ability to masticate, involving fabricating temporary restorations, and cleaning and polishing removeable appliances
- Helping dentists and dental hygienists manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory
- Educating patients by fiving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions
- Completing preventative maintenance to ensure operation of dental equipment, including troubleshooting, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques
- Checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, and placing and expediting orders for supplies
- Verifying insurance and prior authorizations and managing referrals
- Attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
- Other duties as assigned, including participating in clinic meetings, Quality Review, and/or other activities
ABOUT YOU:
Required
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting preferred (Qualified Dental Assistant)
- Current CPR (BLS) required License and/or certification preferred
- EFDA certificate preferred

- Able to provide excellent customer service and support
- Able to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds
- Able to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely with others (internal and external customers), both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Compensation: $21-22.50/hr, depending on experience and skills
