The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the Clinical Instructor level. Applicants must be a certified Dental Hygienist with related experience working with students within a clinical setting, and must have, or be eligible for, full licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Primarily the Clinical Instructor will provide direct clinical hygiene care for 2 days per week, under the supervision of a licensed dentist, for patients of record at the dental school within any clinic as assigned, and for 3 days per week will conduct one-to-one teaching with junior and/or senior students on the instruments used to scale teeth, including giving chairside demonstrations; provide prophylaxis care; supervise scaling of the patients seen by students and evaluation of their technique; teach students how to communicate effectively with patients using patient-centered communication methods; and provide educational assessments.  Additionally, the Clinical Instructor will assist with managing the flow of patients being admitted to clinic, tracking student attendance, and managing patient recalls, including generating reports, assisting in scheduling patients and coordinating follow-up visits for comprehensive/specialty care. Other responsibilities of the Clinical Instructor will include supervising dental assistants assigned to their clinic, and providing backup to the clinical coordinators in any clinic of the school. The Clinical Instructor must ensure compliance with all infection control practices as well as with all privacy and confidentiality regulations.

Some other responsibilities may include assisting with the health assessment team to screen patients via a telehealth portal or in-person after being scheduled to receive care at the dental school or seek emergency care.  The screening will focus on COVID-19 status and on analysis of the patient chief dental issue.
