Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor

 

Position Overview The department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OFMS) and Hospital Dentistry in the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) is seeking to fill a full-time (1.0) 12-month clinical track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor.

 

We are recruiting a strong clinician in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, one ideally with fellowship training in a chosen focus area. The successful candidate will have leadership skills and aspirations. Responsibilities include didactic, clinical and surgical instruction with participation in hospital on-call service. The appointee must be creative and innovative in providing academic and program- enhancing work primarily at the postdoctoral level, including resident mentorship. Our appointee will be expected to contribute to predoctoral teaching assignments within the department. Depending on the candidate’s credentials and experience, a potential administrative opportunity exists as assistant program director in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a CODA accredited dental school with a DDS or DMD degree or equivalent
  • Completion of a CODA accredited OMFS residency program
  • Eligibility for or current Diplomate status in the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Eligibility to obtain an unrestricted dental license in the state of Indiana by the position start date
  • Strong foundation in outpatient oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as anesthesia, pathology, trauma and reconstruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, MD) and/or fellowship training
  • Scholarly activity in clinical research and a record of publication
  • Leadership capacity, collaboration and networking skills

Indiana University School of Dentistry is located on the IUPUI-Indianapolis Academic Health Center campus, a vibrant medical community within the IU Health system, including Riley Hospital for Children,
