Chair, Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry
Columbus, OH

The Ohio State University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time position as Chair of the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry at the rank of associate professor with tenure or professor with tenure. Tenure appointments require candidates to demonstrate a record of research, scholarly works, and teaching excellence.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a division that is structured on the principles of patient care through a comprehensive, vertically-integrated small group practice, and interdisciplinary model of care delivery. The responsibilities of the position include administration, strategic curriculum planning, resource management, and the development of faculty. Other requirements include supporting and refining the college’s integrated approach to educating dental hygiene and dental students; supporting
the college’s community outreach program; maintaining a record of scholarly activity; and participating in the college’s intramural faculty practice. The college has new pre-doctoral classrooms, and soon-to-be clinical facilities equipped with the latest in digital technologies.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality and collaboration among members of the various education, research, and service communities. A willingness to serve as a role model
and advocate for the ideals of professionalism in a heath science educational setting is required.

The Ohio State University has more health science colleges on one campus that offer terminal degrees than any other university in the U.S. – dentistry, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, public health, and veterinary medicine. It is the land-grant and flagship university of Ohio, educating health care providers and conducting research that benefits the state,
the nation, and communities throughout the world. Ohio State’s Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge shows research expenditures for the 2021 fiscal year were $1.236 billion, with a commitment to double research and development expenditures over the next decade.

The Ohio State University is a premier employer that provides exceptional rewards, including medical, dental, and vision benefits. The university’s competitive salaries and benefits packages include generous retirement plans, tuition assistance for employees and their dependents, wellness initiatives, and more. The College of Dentistry is Ohio’s only state-supported dental school. It consists of ten academic divisions representing all major dental specialties. The divisions offer both patient care services and academic programs, allowing dentists to train as specialists. Also, our Outreach and Engagement
activities include over 60 active programs and more than 42 extra mural sites, which continue to expand. The College of Dentistry provides comprehensive patient care in an unparalleled learning environment with internationally recognized faculty and a supportive network of alumni and
friends. In addition, our research programs provide students another dimension beyond classroom and clinical education.

The Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry has didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical course responsibilities. Its faculty members have broad experiences in general dentistry and/or prosthodontics that support the division’s eight small group practices, community outreach programs, general practice residency, and advanced prosthodontic residency. There is a balance of tenure track, clinical track, and adjunct faculty, all of whom have a commitment to a comprehensive care model of education for predoctoral students and GP residents. To ensure a full appreciation for each discipline’s
contributions to patient-centered care, the division works in a close partnership with the other nine divisions of the college.

Qualified candidates must possess a DDS/DMD degree from an institution that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, have a minimum of five years of administrative experience, and be eligible for a regular or limited teaching license in the State of Ohio.

Information on state dental licensure is available at http://
www.dental.ohio.gov/licensinginfo.stm.

Evaluation of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Salary, administrative augmentation, and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications.

Applicants should submit a personal statement delineating qualifications and goals, along with curriculum vitae and three professional references to Dr. John Nusstein, Chair of the Search Committee. Electronic applications only will be accepted. https://osujoblinks.com/x4kr
