Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry

Full-Time Clinical Track Faculty Position – General Practice Residency Director

 

 

The University of Michigan School of Dentistry invites qualified applications and nominations for a full-time faculty position at the Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate professor level in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry to serve as Director of the General Practice Residency (GPR) program with strong commitment to dental education, scholarship and service. Responsibilities include oversight of resident recruitment and selection; program curricula; providing didactic instruction and supervision for residents in clinic and operating rooms; and ensuring program compliance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and other programmatic standards. Practice opportunities are available in Michigan Medicine and the affiliated Integrated Special Care Clinic settings.

 

 

Candidates should have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree, completion of a CODA-accredited GPR program, and the ability to be licensed in the State of Michigan and obtain hospital privileges at Michigan Medicine. Experience providing dental care in a hospital setting is required. Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following experience(s): Service as a GPR Director or Assistant/Associate Director, or advanced training in a hospital setting such as dental oncology, oral medicine, special care and/or geriatric dentistry.

 

 

Responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction of dental students, dental hygiene students and graduate students/general practice residents, as well as scholarly activity and service. The department has an active mentorship program and will provide opportunities for clinical practice and the development of independent and/or collaborative research programs. Salary and level of academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
