The General Dentist is responsible for providing all patients with customized, high-quality dental care in a clean, comfortable, and caring family-oriented environment, both directly and indirectly through additional dental personnel. He/she provides care for patients of all ages, is proficient in performing regular checkups and complex dental procedures and is committed to the highest quality of patient care. The Dentist should have a working knowledge of health disparities and underserved community health issues. The successful candidate will include a comprehensive appreciation of cultural awareness and sensitivity within their scope of services.
Areas of Responsibility
Patient Care:
Provides comprehensive oral health services to the patients of the School Based Health Centers and the Community Health Center at Whitefoord, Inc. ; Diagnoses, treats and prevents oral disease in children and adults
Performs quality clinical and radiographic evaluations to diagnose and treat diseases of the oral cavity.
Promotes oral health by providing educational information on all phases of preventive and restorative dentistry.
Documents and follows treatment plans that include appropriate preventive and restorative therapy.
Manages medical/dental history with a comprehensive evaluation of the patient's general health.
Maintains the baseline radiographs and any other radiographs necessary to diagnose and treatment plan the case.
Reporting and Operations:
Reviews and follows all dental clinic protocols, policies, and procedures.
Completes reports, charts, and unit goals within specified time-frame and according to preestablished guidelines, while complying with HIPPA and related policies
Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention
Minimum Requirements:
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from a dental program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
A state license to practice dentistry in Georgia
Patience when dealing with patients and the ability to communicate with patients regarding their health and care
Good attention to detail and problem solving skills in patient care and clinic operations
Able to work with hands in small spaces
Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines; and excellent written and verbal communication.
Skill in administering, maintaining, and expanding a program of primary and preventive dental care.
Treatment should include but not be limited to the following: elimination of pain, removal of carious lesions, restorative, periodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
Ability to work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships, effectively assist providers; work toward goals and objectives of draft priorities.
Ability to follow Whitefoord Clinic practice guidelines
Ability to receive constructive feedback including evaluation of provider’s productivity and practice attributes.
