The H.O.M.E. Coach is an outreach program that strives to meet the oral health needs of Ohioans in key underserved areas. The H.O.M.E. Coach and all staff occasionally participate in special community events. There is a strong desire to increase the community presence of the H.O.M.E. Coach and expand services to all populations in need of care.
The Dental H.O.M.E. Coach is a three-chair dental office on wheels equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for comfort and ease of delivery of dental treatment to children and potentially patients of all ages. As a component of the OHIO Project, senior dental students are scheduled to the Coach to provide basic dental care while being exposed to the unique care delivery model of a dental office on wheels. Approximately, 3,000 patient care encounters are completed annually, totaling over $4.4 million in cost of dental procedures since the inception of the program.
