DENTIST
Contra Costa County Detention Facilities
Contra Costa Health is currently seeking a Dentist for our Detention Facilities to perform general dentistry including oral evaluations of patients, dental radiographs to diagnose dental pathology; simple periodontal dentistry (gross scaling, prophylaxis); palliative treatment; restorative dentistry (fillings); and oral surgery (extractions or referral to Oral Surgeon when applicable).
Dentists will provide clinical direction and supervision to dental assistants to ensure proper implementation of infection control in accordance with OSHA and department policies; chairside assisting; dental radiograph procedures; and other critical support functions (i.e., maintaining equipment, inventory, record management and maintaining security of working areas, including daily instrument control.)
Dentists will also document inpatient dental records in accordance with the Dental Practice Act, department policies and procedures. Documentation will include procedures performed, dental material used, including type and amount of anesthesia used, outcome, post-operative care instructions and medication(s) prescribed, if applicable.
Dentists will engage in weekly and monthly meetings with colleagues, staff and the Medical Director to discuss cases, concerns and resolutions of any issues. Dentists will also attend in-service training to comply with policies and procedures of both Contra Costa County and Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff.
Requirement:
Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of dentistry in the State of California as determined by the California Board of Dental Examiners.
