The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for a General Dentist faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry. The primary responsibility for this position will be instructing and supervising dental students assigned to the Ohio State Dental H.O.M.E. Coach, our Health Outreach Mobile Experience in our dental office on wheels.

The H.O.M.E. Coach is an outreach program that strives to meet the oral health needs of Ohioans in key underserved areas. Dental students are the primary care providers, and the Coach experience supplements their training in becoming sensitive and culturally aware health professionals. The H.O.M.E. Coach provides preventative and restorative dental care to primarily elementary school age children who do not have a regular dentist in the Columbus City Schools and surrounding school districts. The H.O.M.E. Coach and all staff occasionally participate in special community events. There is a strong desire to increase the community presence of the H.O.M.E. Coach and expand services to all populations in need of care.

The Dental H.O.M.E. Coach is a three-chair dental office on wheels equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for comfort and ease of delivery of dental treatment to children and potentially patients of all ages. As a component of the OHIO Project, senior dental students are scheduled to the Coach to provide basic dental care while being exposed to the unique care delivery model of a dental office on wheels. Approximately, 3,000 patient care encounters are completed annually, totaling over $4.4 million in cost of dental procedures since the inception of the program.
