Who we are/Ko wai mātou
The University of Otago is one of New Zealand's largest and most research-intensive universities. Founded in 1907, the Faculty of Dentistry is based at the University's main campus in Dunedin and is the only dental school in New Zealand. The Faculty is housed in modern, state-of the art facilities. Academic, research and clinical activities are centred around the Walsh Building and Clinical Services Building in Dunedin, with additional satellite clinics in South Dunedin and in Auckland.
The roles/Te mahi
We welcome applications for multiple full-time positions for Senior Professional Practice Fellows and Senior Academics in Endodontics and Prosthodontics, based in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand. In these roles you will be supported through a collegial academic environment, an active and dynamic research culture, and through efficient professional services across the University.
Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Endodontics
This Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor role presents an exciting opportunity for a senior academic to make a significant contribution to the ongoing education of dental students. In this position, you will conduct research-informed teaching across a range of courses in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Doctor of Clinical Dentistry programs. There will also be opportunities to undertake research leading to quality-assured publications within the discipline, either individually or as part of a group.
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Prosthodontics
As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Prosthodontics you will deliver engaging teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also have the opportunity to conduct high-quality research and contribute to innovative curriculum design.
Senior Professional Practice Fellow
Senior Professional Practice Fellows are key members of our team, supporting teaching and facilitating learning while assisting with assessments and engaging in clinical service in both undergraduate and staff clinics. Your role will include clinical teaching and tutoring of undergraduate dentists in your area of specialty. You will also follow through on patient care and referrals within the hospital, making a meaningful impact on both our students and patients.
Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
For all these positions, you must be a dentist who is registerable with the Dental Council of New Zealand and hold a specialist qualification. You will also have the ability to teach and provide specialist patient care while effectively collaborating with students and staff from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds at all levels within the institution.
