Skills required

Essential:

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Experienced clinical teacher at least 5 years for Assistant prof through to 15 years for full professor
  • Able to lead research & supervise dissertations & theses
  • Ability to develop curricula 
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to lead at department level and collaborate with superiors

Desirable:

  • Ability to use SPSS/SAS or other database packages
  • Knowledge of statistics

Attainment

  • A PhD
  • Specialty clinical qualification eg American Board, MPros RCS
  • An excellent record of publication from a minimum of 25 peer reviewed papers through to 5 for Assistant Professor.

Essential:

  • A PhD
  • Specialty clinical qualification eg American Board, MPros RCS
  • An excellent record of publication from a minimum of 25 peer reviewed papers through to 5 for Assistant Professor
  • Evidence of supervision of PhDs/Masters etc

Desirable:

  • Grants or awards for research
  • A higher teaching qualification eg FHEA
  • Member of national or international bodies eg WHO, Councils

Knowledge

Essential:

  • Knowledge of educational systems globally
  • Knowledge of health care systems globally

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of finance, budgets and purchasing procedures

Relevant experience

Essential:

  • Experience of working in higher education
  • Experience in providing general administrative support to the university eg Chair of committees

Desirable:

  • Experience of taking minutes of meetings
