The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at University of Illinois at Chicago in the College of Dentistry is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher on the non-tenure track with a specialty in Anesthesiology. The Department is fully committed to patient care, student and resident education, service to the University, the community, and the profession, continuing dental and medical education, and scientific research and publication.

The successful candidate will join our team committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The department seeks individuals with a strong commitment to interdisciplinary care and willingness to engage other academic departments such as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Endodontics, etc.

The anesthesiologist’s primary responsibility will be to provide general anesthesia and sedation services in the newly built Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation Pediatric Dentistry Outpatient Care Center in the College of Dentistry. The anesthesiologist will also oversee pediatric dentistry and other specialty residents’ education (rotation) in general anesthesia, and may be requested to teach a course on general anesthesia and sedation to specialty residents.

Qualifications include a DDS/DMD/MD/DO degree or its foreign equivalent, a current license or eligibility for full licensure in the State of Illinois, and current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Requirements include experience providing sedation and general anesthesia for pediatric patients, completion of postgraduate residency training in a US-accredited program (CODA-accredited Dental Anesthesiology program or ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology program) and diplomate status by or eligibility for the American Board of Dental Anesthesiology or the American Board of Anesthesiology. If the candidate is board eligible, completion of the board certification process will be expected within three years of the date of hire. Advanced qualifications (fellowship, MS or PhD) in an area related to anesthesiology are preferred.

Must be eligible for the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor level (minimum) in the non-tenure track rank commensurate with norms and criteria for faculty.

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
